Bid Manager / Writer
Sevenoaks (Hybrid working)
Full Time / Permanent

FM Conway is a leading family-run infrastructure services company that is passionately committed to delivering vital services in transportation, the built environment and open spaces for communities and business. They are now looking to recruit a Bid Manager / Writer to join their team in Sevenoaks on a hybrid working model.

As Bid Manager / Writer you will be responsible for leading and coordinating professionally written tender submissions that clearly articulate FM Conway’s value proposition.

This is a demanding role that requires an ability to work both collaboratively and independently in order to meet fixed submission deadlines. The successful candidate will be a strategic thinker with outstanding written and verbal communication skills, a critical eye for detail and commercial business acumen.

Key Responsibilities:
• Manage the end-to-end bid process in collaboration with the Senior Bid Manager
• Carry out market research in relation to key opportunities
• Review Tender documents in order to understand the technical requirements and define key deliverables
• Develop a clear and compelling win strategy for each bid
• Prepare and manage a tender programme and delivery plan
• Lead tender briefings and storyboard sessions with technical and operational staff
• Draft, edit and review the quality / technical components of tender submissions
• Coordinate input from subject matter experts and third parties
• Support senior management with tender presentations, negotiations and market engagement activities
• Provide expertise to the wider bid team as required including technical input into Selection Questionnaires, production of case studies, capability statements and ongoing contributions to FM Conway’s knowledge base
• Ensure all tenders are complete, compliant, professional and well presented
• Liaise with the commercial, legal and estimating teams as required

Person Specification
Essential
• Educated to Professional / Degree Level in any relevant field
• An excellent command of the English language
• Technically minded with an aptitude for writing documents with persuasive content
• A proven track record of successfully tendering for major contracts
• Knowledge of the civil engineering and highway maintenance sectors
• Strong leadership, planning, and organisational skills
• Ability to translate technical content into easy to read prose
• Proficiency with In-Design
• Knowledge of the public sector procurement regulations 2015
Desired
• Previous role(s) in a technical construction environment
• Presentation / workshop skills
• Knowledge of standard contracts such as NEC, including alliance models and collaborative frameworks
• Certified to APMP Foundation or Practitioner Level

Please note that this role will involve travel to other FM Conway locations, and therefore the job holder must be able to drive, possess a full UK driving licence.
