Practice Plus Group has an exciting new opportunity for a Bid Manager to join their team.
The post-holder will be a key part of business development within Primary Care of Practice Plus Group’s Health Care Division.
The main responsibility will be to support the creation and submission of bids & proposals to achieve targets for new business growth and retention/renewal of existing service contracts. This will include project management of bids and working closely with operational colleagues to agree bid material, undertake market intelligence of local health economies and competitors.
This post will specifically focus on Urgent Care and Primary Care including related healthcare services. Although this post will have a specific focus, the post holder will be expected to work flexibly to support other business development opportunities should the need arise. Those opportunities may be drawn from existing Practice Plus Group’s services or new service areas.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
o The post holder will be required to work in accordance with the Bid Standard Operating Procedure (Bid SOP).
o To manage the preparation and submission of bids for new contracts. This will include contribution to bid writing, supporting the development of the business case with market intelligence and working with a team of subject matter experts and colleagues in operations, clinical governance, HR, IM&T, finance, Commercial and Estates.
The post holder will be responsible for:
o Research the healthcare market to gather market intelligence specific to identified growth opportunities.
o Interrogation of all relevant e-tendering websites and identification of appropriate procurement prospects
o Support prospect evaluation through utilisation of the bid qualification tool and the opportunity summary template.
o Conduct appropriate internal and external research to inform and support the delivery of high-quality bid production material
o Research and present data on the local environment and landscape of identified pursuits
o Attend bidder days, market engagement and stakeholder events which may require formal and factual presentation of information. These events may occur outside of normal working hours.
o Attend local and national conferences and workshops to develop understanding of the wider healthcare/bid landscape
o Supervise and oversee the duties of a Bid Co-ordinator to distribute all relevant bid documentation, procurement updates, CQ’s and clarification responses. Communicate relevant information to Bid Leads and relevant stakeholders involved in the bid production process
o Directly manage the Bid Writer and Researcher, bid writing, Subject Matter Expert (SME) interviewing, bid editing and the bid production of all PQQ’s, ITT’s, clarification responses, supporting annexes and interview presentation material throughout the entire life cycle of a bid
o Work with Bid Leads and SMEs to develop ideas, compelling service design solutions, write up and edit their contributions
o Take responsibility for the quality of whole bid production, ensuring that agreed ‘win themes’ and Commissioners ‘top scoring’ criteria are clearly articulated, and evidenced throughout every bid response
o Network closely with operational stakeholders to collect evidence and case study material that will usefully support new bid submissions and showcase our groups successes and achievements in delivering clinical excellence, improving patient experience, delivering operational efficiencies and providing high quality, value for money healthcare services
o Support Head of Development to prepare formal Finance sign-off and Board sign-off documentation in line with agreed authorisation processes prior to a final bid submission
o Ensure adherence to tender instructions for submissions – advise others of requirements
o Develop and agree with operational colleagues the pipeline of opportunities on an annual basis, reviewing and revising quarterly or sooner if required
o Assemble a library of previous responses and bid material to support completion of proposals
o Promote the use the Huddle bid management system or other databases that may be agreed from time to time
o Contribute to the new business target specific to their area of focus and other objectives agreed at annual review.
