Location: Leeds
Salary: £50,000 – £55,000
Onto the Page, a dynamic, multi-client agency representing dozens of clients from a wide variety of industries and sectors are now looking to recruit a Bid Manager / Writer into its team in Leeds.
In 2022, Onto the Page worked on over 150 bids, to the public and private sectors, representing opportunities worth tens of millions of pounds to their clients. Winning nearly 80% of them. Client satisfaction levels are exemplary. As well as bid consultancy and training, their service portfolio includes an opportunity search service and knowledge management.
Bid Manager / Writer Key Responsibilities:
• Initial client engagement
• Supporting the client’s decision to bid
• Determining internal resources needed to manage a bid to support the preparation of a quote for the client
• Bid process management (end-to-end, including submission of SQs or equivalent, ITT / RFX or equivalent) with the support of the Bid Administrator
• Managing the internal bid team required to support the bid, e.g. Bid Writer, Bid Administrator, freelancers, etc
• Ongoing client engagement, including supporting solution development as required and leading the bid feedback / lessons learnt process
• Undertake market, client, and best practice research in preparation of the kick-off meeting and before drafting responses
• Lead storyboard sessions and answer planning activities with the bid team
• Ongoing client engagement (at subject matter level)
• Answer planning, content gap analysis and undertaking research for model answers
• Commissioning new content from the client and / or their suppliers, coaching and supporting contributors on writing best practice
• Writing content, ensuring win themes, value statements, and the proposed solution is communicated in a way to meet or exceed the buyer’s requirements
• Editing and proofreading content, including all amendments
• Securing final approval from the client, ready for submission
• Overseeing finalisation of all submission elements and the actual submission of the bid, with the support of the Bid Administrator
• Red team reviews of client-prepared submissions
• Business development including writing proposals and issuing quotes to capture new clients
Bid Manager / Writer Personal attributes / Skills and Experience:
• Working knowledge of bid management of private and public sector procurement
• A skilled Bid Writer with an ability to recognise, capture and portray each client’s distinct tone of voice
• A good level of knowledge about business management best practice in service-based industries
• The ability to engage and develop effective relationships with clients and subject matter experts at all levels to ensure their expertise is reflected in written content
• An energetic and outgoing team player with high levels of integrity, confidence and resilience who is not afraid to roll up their sleeves to tackle the task at hand – whatever it might be on a given day
• A creative thinker and an individual keen on developing their existing skills as well as learning new ones
• A highly motivated self-starter and completer / finisher who is able to work under pressure and to demanding deadlines, but who will not compromise on quality in such circumstances
• An individual with a strong business acumen, who feels comfortable in making decisions, and in handling contractual and commercial negotiations with both prospects and existing clients
• Problem solving, decision making, organisation and time management skills
• Educated to degree level or having equivalent work experience
• Accreditation to UKAPMP Foundation level desirable but not essential. (The Company will fund the individual’s UKAPMP membership and certifications during employment.)
