Bid Manager
Job Description
A global law firm is seeking a Bid Manager to join its team in London. You will own the bids process (from qualification through to client feedback) across multiple, multi-jurisdictional bids at any one time, working on all bid types including high-value projects, transactions and legal panel appointments. You will need to apply an expert eye to the creation and editing of content as well as ensuring successful submission of high quality, visually appealing RFP responses. This is a fast-paced role with senior stakeholder engagement and management required throughout.
You will be based in the London office working alongside the wider Marketing & Business Development function to support lawyers across Europe, Middle East and Asia. There is a flexible working policy in place whereby you will need to be in the office at least two days a week.
Key responsibilities
• Own the entire bids process from qualification through to submission producing clientfocussed
high-quality bids
• Facilitate scoping/kick-off calls and running all aspects of bid response: planning, structure,
format, content, messaging, proofing and submission ¡V using a deliverables matrix for all bids
• Provide project management/document control for all areas of the bid
• Provide coaching and guidance to fee earners regarding client engagement throughout the bid
lifecycle
• Work with lead partners and the client relationship team to develop an appropriate response
strategy and ensure a bespoke solution
• Engage and matrix manage all contributing functions including: pricing, compliance, business
development and knowledge
• Manage housekeeping ¡V updating bid systems for bid reporting and enhancing future content
• Embed best practice throughout the bid process and provide training and ad hoc coaching to
business development colleagues to develop bid management skills as appropriate
Required Skills / Experience:
• Proven project management/bid management skills within professional services
• Absolute attention to detail
• Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
• Ability to liaise confidently and build relationships with people of all levels, creating confidence in your approach
• Strong English language skills for drafting, editing and proof reading
• Agile approach to workload and demonstration of flexibility to meet the demands of a diverse global law firm
• Experience as a bid manager working on complex, multi-jurisdictional/multi-office/multi-practice area bid responses
• Experience leading and coaching a team of bid professionals at all levels
• Experience of bids and bidding in a professional services environment is essential
