Job Description

Bid Manager Role with City & Guild

We have a new opportunity to join a successful Bids team with City & Guilds.

This could be the perfect development opportunity for applicants who have substantial prior experience in bid writing as a Proposal or Bid Writer and are looking to develop their skills and step up into a post as a Bid Manager.

It is an exciting time to join the team as they are expanding and increasing their focus on winning new business across all parts of City & Guilds. You will manage the bid development process for UK and International tenders through the full bidding lifecycle from identification of new opportunities, PQQ, ITT, through to contract award.

They are flexible on location and the role will involve some travel to our businesses across the UK on occasion.

This appointment will be made on merit.

They believe that diversity and inclusion strengthen and enriches them, and that it is the responsibility of everyone at the City & Guilds Group to drive this value. As ethnic minority groups and disabled people are currently under-represented within the Group, they particularly encourage and welcome applications from these communities.

About The Role
Day-to-day you will be managing and leading bid project teams to deliver high quality proposal responses to tight deadlines. You’ll work alongside multiple teams across City & Guilds to gain their insight and input into bid responses, ensuring what we propose in the bid can be operationally delivered when we win.

You will work on a wide range of bids, from smaller, short contracts to multi-million £ opportunities and will gain a detailed understanding of the City & Guilds business and our products and services offering. As part of a winning team, you will deliver on objectives, helping to maximise their chances of winning business and support achieving their sales target.

The role will include writing bid responses from scratch and using existing content library responses to create compelling proposals which meets the customers’ requirements. As Bid Manager, you are involved in every aspect of the submission and will have an excellent appreciation of what the customer needs and how best to articulate how City & Guilds will deliver them.

About You
They will consider applicants who have substantial prior experience in bid writing as a Proposal or Bid Writer and are looking to develop their skills and step up into a post as a Bid Manager. They are looking for someone who is proactive and has an aptitude to learn and succeed; both will be paramount to your position within our highly motivated team. You should have a passion for detail alongside great interpersonal skills to build relationships with stakeholders and get the best from them during the bid process. You will ideally have experience in Project Management but equally they would consider candidates that are not as experienced in this area.

You will have experience in working on bids and tenders, writing proposal responses from scratch and reviewing customer requirements against responses. You’ll need to be able to demonstrate sound experience of working in a fast-paced environment and consistently meeting deadlines with strong time management and prioritisation skills.

You will have a keen eye for detail, be able to analyse customer bid documentation and interpret it against what City & Guilds can deliver, understanding what is important to the customer and should be met through their response.

What They Offer
They offer the opportunity to work in an innovative, engaging and market-leading organisation with opportunities to develop your existing skills and explore new ones.

You’ll receive an excellent benefits package which typically includes a great base salary, 25 days holiday plus bank holidays, pension, private healthcare, volunteering opportunities and much more.

They welcome a discussion about how this role could work flexibly for you. For example, work pattern, hours or location.
